fame - ah the 80's were great.

I remember watching Fame when I was a kid and thinking that I belonged in a school like that. All I wanted to do was dance. Don't get me wrong. I'm not really that good a dancer, although give me a couple of drinks and I think I'm pretty damn great. I don't know what it was that appealed to me so much but I still love to watch a dance routine and daydream about being in an eighties dance troupe. This clip was on Rage this morning and I remembered watching the movie over and over. I was allowed to 'stay up' to watch the television series. So cool. I mentioned to my hubby that maybe Glee is today's version of Fame but he said not to compare the two although I don't think he has seen either. Not that I ever watch GleeIt is one of those shows that I probably would watch if I were on my own but it is a bit too cringe-worthy for the hubby so we don't watch it. I wonder if there are any shows you miss out on by default? If I cared enough I could always TiVo these shows. I attempted to get into Couger Town, that show with Courtney Cox, in an effort to reclaim my chick-ness. As is usually the case, I lost interest. Enjoy the clip.

Cheers, Kirsten.

sounds like fun

Chantelle at fat mum slim has come up with this photo challenge for January. Take a photo a day on whatever device you like. The list above can be used for inspiration. Check out all the details here.

As Chantelle says you can share your images on Instagram, Twitter or whatever. Tag them with the hashtag #JANphotoaday so that you can follow and be followed.

I'm going to give it a go and post to Instagram: @kirstenjones77. Wish me luck.

Cheers, Kirsten.

how long is a piece of string?

I called this post 'how long is a piece of string?' because that is about how long (or short) the list of ideas that rattle around in my head is. I seem to get overwhelmed in choosing what to write about and struggle with where to start. So where do I start? Enough with the drama already. C'mon girl, just start!

So, I like to look at nice stuff. One of my favourite blogs to visit is Joy Deangdeelert Cho's blogOh Joy! The layout is lovely as is the content. I have to say I have been scared to get right into blogging as I seem to put enormous pressure on myself to be perfect. The problem with this is that it doesn't actually achieve anything and is pretty much setting myself up for failure. Let's try and move on from there and actually do something. The Oh Joy! blog is simply beautiful and Joy shares many things that she finds awesome so thanks Joy! Another person that I find really inspiring is Melbournite, Pip Lincolne, and her crafty stuff showcased through the blog and shop Meet Me at Mike's. I haven't visited the shop but I have seen Pip on the telly a few times and she is one crafty lady. Definitely on my wish list are her books Make Hey and the Meet Me at Mikes Journal.

A new blog I discovered today thanks to the parenting site kidspot is the intelligent blog fat mum slim authored by a talented lady named Chantelle. I will be reading and using some of her blog tips to hopefully make my blog enjoyable.

Cheers, Kirsten.

i'm back

Okay so it has been a long time since I have posted anything. I have been intimidated by the multitude of blogs out there that are just awesome. No more! I am going to refocus the intimidation and turn it into inspiration. Sound good? I hope so. I have to admit I have also been sucked into the world of facebook where I am able to waste a lot of time. I'm going to give blogging a crack as it might be a great outlet for me to vent and perhaps connect with some other people out there that also enjoy stuff. I am a bit out of practice and have wasted quite a bit of time this morning trying to figure out how to re-blog stuff I want to talk about from other sites. It seems that blogger doesn't let you re-blog pictures so I assume I have to save an image to my desktop and then upload it to the blog if I want it to appear in a post. If you have an easier way please let me know. Wish me luck...
